Baker III Institute for Public PolicyIn our recent brief Strategic Response Options If Russia Cuts Gas Supplies to Europe, 2 we and our co-authors Kenneth Medlock and Anna Mikulska address options for supplying Europe with energy through the remainder of 2022 in the event that Russian natural gas supplies suffer interruption. Since we published the brief, Europe has formally proposed to reduce its reliance on Russian natural gas by two-thirds by year-end,3 and Russia in turn has threatened to terminate all natural gas supplies to Europe.4 Rising risk demands concrete, rapidly implementable gas supply solutions that can provide a bridge until longer-term infrastructure investments are in place. We address one such bridge in this follow-on brief.Item A Doomed Relationship: Ennahdha and Salafism(2018) Zouaghi, Sabrina; Cavatorta, Francesco; James A. Baker III Institute for Public PolicyBy downgrading the importance of the Middle East in U.S. foreign policy, the Biden administration underestimates the threat of instability in the region to American security. Despite the frozen status of Israeli-Palestinian negotiations and the considerable obstacles to restart them, a U.S.-led effort could help to gradually forge a “Framework Agreement for an Israeli-Palestinian Permanent Peace.” This policy brief outlines the principles that such a framework might embody, with the essential objective of two states for two peoples.Item A Global Model of Natural Gas Markets: Some Case Results(2004) Hartley, Peter R.; Medlock, Kenneth B.
