dc.description.abstractIf the experience of one 'event' is followed by another, the memory of the two has merged thereby rendering it impossible to distinguish between the recollections of each. Human consciousness is not a linear passage of discrete experiences dictated by the tenets of a mechanistic conception of time. Rather, it is a fluid synthesis of past experiences and future expectations that 'gnaws' on the present. If this fluidity could be made visible through movement in our built environment, if we were made more aware of a changing present and the experience of being alive in time, an understanding of our chaotic urban condition would be made more legible and meaningful.
