dc.description.abstractSite Amplification takes the role of site to the extreme by using design as a way to amplify the shifting conditions of a place. Such an approach aims to celebrate and harness these shifting intensities into a productive entanglement of site and design therefore removing the possibility of considering site as a given context. This method treats site as an active input into a sensitive system that anticipates and registers the momentary energies of the site. The project that emerges is an assembly system that registers and amplifies the role of the varying conditions from calm to extreme of a site. This particular instance is a test of a coastal situation that encounters drastic changes in water levels and wave intensities due to weather situations both geographically near and far from the site. The entire assembly produces different visual and spatial affects as well as harnesses and redirects the energies. This renders times of storms or seemingly disastrous situations, quite advantageous in the production of energy, as well as, a constantly changing visual and spatial registrations of the natural phenomenon engrained into the site. It is therefore a challenge to our notion of site and an amplification of its potentials.
