dc.description.abstractWe propose a new method for speckle reduction in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery based on the embedded zerotree image compression algorithm. This new approach to denoising is inspired by the realization that the wavelet transform domain and the zero-tree image model are natural for both compression and denoising. We illustrate the proposed scheme using fully polarimetric SAR images and a variety of compression ratios.en_US
