A polarized 3-He ion source is installed on an injection line of the Texas A & M cyclotron. The polarization is obtained by optically pumping the helium gas. A helium polarimeter was built to constantly monitor the polarization of the ion beam. The design considerations and construction of the polarimeter are discussed. Preliminary experiments have been carried out with the polarimeter; the results of these experiments are discussed.
