A group of five major emerging economies known as the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) recently announced the launch of the BRICS bank. While the group "clearly wants something tangible to demonstrate their global prominence and the power of non-Western values," writes international economics fellow Russell Green, critical issues must be resolved before the BRICS bank can open its doors.
