Data are presented on the rate of sulfur removal from a fluidized ferrous sulfide bed by the oxidation of the ferrous sulfide. The variables investigated were feed gas composition, temperature, and fluidizing gas velocity. The data indicate that diffusion of gases through the solid particle and the equilibrium decomposition of a solid product are the important rate-controlling steps.
