It is common knowledge that a collar shrunk on a shaft produces stress concentration in the shaft beneath the ends of the collar. Because of much laboratory work, the detrimental end effector have been alleviated to some extent. No analytical work has yet been presented which completely formulates the and effect problem. This thesis is an attempt to present a complete picture of a special problem. It is hoped that more difficult problems maybe solved by extending the theory developed here.
