Spheres is an orchestral composition consisting of five major sections. The first section is a slow, loud introduction which introduces the major theme in the low strings and winds. The second section is only slightly faster and introduces the second major theme which is passed throughout the orchestra. The third section is a combination of development and exposition, as an important motive and other new ideas are introduced. The fourth section is purely developmental, using counterpoint primarily. Near the end of the fourth section the climax is reached with a tutti statement of the motive from the third section. The fifth section resolves the tension by restating the major ideas in a more relaxed fashion.en_US
