A measurement Is reported of the proton polarization achieved in a polymer sample through the solid effect. The sample is a polymerized alkyne; the paramagnetism arises from free radicals trapped in the polymer structure. An enhancement factor of 12 was observed at 1.8°K. Growth and decay of the polarization was observed to consist of one component with time constant less than 1 second, another with time constant of 8 seconds.en_US
