Abstract

A solution to the boundary layer equations for en incompressible fluid flow through a converging nozzle is presented. Calculations are based on a nozzle whose walls have a constant radius of curvature and a 2:1 entrance area to throat area ratio. An equation for the free stream velocity es a function of the arc length of the nozzle is derived, and the Blasius series for flow around a circular cylinder is applied to as much of the nozzle as the approximation will permit. Graphs of the velocity profiles, variation of shear stress and displacement thickness era presented.
