This thesis investigates how synchronous systems of digital space and physical place can play a role in developing community through access to information technology and the formation of networks. It looks at how a community technology network can develop through a synthesis of the community technology center and the dispersed digital network, examining this new model through the three layers of invisibility inherent to telecommunication systems: infrastructure, accessibility, and education. The project focuses on the Fifth Ward in Houston as a site for investigation, rethinking current modes of intervention taking place there through the existing i-community model.en_US
