The tangential velocity distribution was found to resemble a solid body rotation in the outer region, and a vortex flow in the center. A theory derived for the pressure and velocity distributions agreed very well with experiments. Close to the flat walls a secondary flow towards the center of the vortex was detected, which contributed to most of the mass flow through the chamber.42 ppengCopyright is held by the author, unless otherwise indicated.
