The light manufacturing operation has as its head an office, and as its body, a shop, in an area ratio of 1:10, and with a set of dichotomies in place as environmental givens and tenets of modern production itself. The Focus of this project was to rethink these dichotomies in terms of the environment at the studio/workshop of Metalab, an enterprise in which I am a principal partner since its official beginnings in April, 1999. In this setting I have reworked the physical, material, spatial, and functional characteristics of the wall which separates the office area from the shop floor.
