We apply the Estimation-Quantization (EQ) algorithm to compress normal mesh wavelet coefficients. The EQ algorithm models the wavelet coefficients as a Gaussian random field with slowly varying standard deviation that depends on the local neighborhood and uses rate-distortion optimal scalar quantizers.
