A SUCCESSFUL MASTERS THESIS DEFENSE - Congratulations to RPLP graduate student fellow Jauhara Ferguson, who successfully defended her Masters thesis last month! Her presentation was entitled "How American Am I?: Comparing American Identity among US Black Muslims."
NEW BOOK ALERT - Check out the recently published Believing in South Central: Everyday Islam in the City of Angels by Pamela Prickett. Pamela is assistant professor of sociology at the University of Amsterdam, an RPLP non-resident research fellow, and co-host of RPLP's Religion Unmuted podcast. 
RELIGIOUS LEADERS ARE KEY TO VACCINATION EFFORTS - This is according to RPLP director Elaine Howard Ecklund in a recent expert alert from Rice University. “Our research finds that religious leaders have considerable influence around issues of science in many communities, but especially white, evangelical Christian communities, those who represent more than 20% of the U.S. population,” Ecklund said. FELLOW IS RECIPIENT OF SEVERAL RESEARCH AWARDS - Over the past several months RPLP graduate student fellow Dan Bolger has received several awards in support of his dissertation research project, which is entitled "Spatial and Cultural Barriers to Social Service Access in Majority Black Neighborhoods." He was awarded a National Science Foundation Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grant to support his project; an award of $5,000 from the Lake Institute on Faith & Giving at Indiana University's Lilly Family School of Philanthropy; as well as an Honorable Mention for the Lake Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship. Congratulations, Dan! 
ARE RELIGIOUS WOMEN MORE TRADITIONALIST? - Relying on survey data collected in 37 countries, this study analyzes how the relationship between religious attendance and women's gender ideologies is conditioned by their country's gender inequality. This article was authored by RPLP non-resident research fellow Di Di and is published in the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion
