News from the RPLP
Dear Shannon,

We want to acknowledge that so many of us are continuing to suffer in these times; in the midst of this, we want to share some good news for which we are grateful.

The RPLP has received a grant from the Lilly Endowment, “The Impact of COVID-19 and Racism on Faith at Work.” The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of two urgent pandemics--COVID-19 and racism--on the relationship between faith and work for U.S. adults. Specifically, we will examine how these separate, yet related, pandemics are affecting how faith may be a resource for workers and businesses.

Through the study, we will conduct a new population survey of at least 1,000 adults on the ways that COVID-19 and conversations (and actions) centered around racism and racial justice (particularly anti-Blackness) are influencing the way people think about faith at work.

Please read on for more research and other news from the RPLP. But first, hear from Michael McDowell, a former undergraduate student fellow and current post-baccalaureate research fellow. Michael's is the first of many stories we are going to begin sharing with you. These stories will come from our fellows, both past and current, as well as others who have been touched by the RPLP in some way.

The skills I have learned, the people I have met, the stability I have been given, and the mentorship I have received all have made for a truly life-altering experience, one that has helped clarify my passions, calling, and goals. ...
